Berkeley: Cute Cottage In A Crescent But What’s That Noise?

No surprise here, but I have noticed that realtors have a tendency to overlook proximity to main roads when writing up their property brochures (see my previous post). Several recent open-houses I have visited have sounded promising on paper, only to prove in the flesh to be much too close for (my) comfort to traffic.

Most of Claremont Crescent is a peaceful enclave and this three-bedroom house certainly has the feel of a rather quaint country cottage. Unfortunately it is flanked on one side by Ashby Avenue about which it is impossible to use the words peaceful or quaint.

But if car noise can become white noise for you and you want to spend less than $1m on a cozy home in a desirable Berkeley neighborhood then this is worth looking at.
