Palo Alto: The Movie

One of the things that will really put this town on the map is the upcoming film, PALO ALTO, written, directed and produced by Brad Leong and Tony Vallone, a couple of recent graduates from Palo Alto High School.

It will hold its premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival, held in New York from April 25 to May 6, 2007.

Here’s the official synopsis of the film PALO ALTO:
A bittersweet homecoming when four college freshmen return to their quiet Northern California town for Thanksgiving. In the tradition of AMERICAN GRAFFITI, this first feature film by college students Brad Leong and Tony Vallone follows the adventures of four friends on one eventful night that changes everything.

Tony Vallone is a family friend, and I’ve always been impressed with his talent, drive, and passion for film. During his senior year, he organized an outdoor film festival at a downtown Palo Alto park. Now attending UCLA, he and his partner in crime, Brad, assembled a great cast and crew on a shoestring budget. I read an early draft of the screenplay, and based on the concept and what I know about Tony, I think it has the potential to be a big commercial success.

Expect sex, drugs, and wild teen parties.

In other words, EVERYTHING that you probably did as a high schooler, but that you thought your own kids would NEVER do.

Because this is a real estate blog, I’d be remiss if I didn’t comment on what I think this film will do for the Palo Alto home market. Will Palo Alto High School get a rap as a party school and devalue property values? I think not. Having a couple of successful filmmakers come out of the school trumps that. Not to mention their famous robotics team and award-winning student magazine. And the basketball team that finished first in state and a football team that finished second in California.
