Where Is Aptos?

While visiting a spectacular Bed & Breakfast in Aptos I thought I would look around at some homes for sale. You know, just for comparison to what is going on in my usual blog area of Fremont, Newark, Milpitas, etc… It actually kind of amazed me that homes in a relatively unheard of area of California are still quite up there in price. Go to Singapore and say you are from Aptos, CA and see what they say. Go to Singapore and say you are from San Francisco (don’t even have to say CA) and they will KNOW where you are from.

I have to say it is very beautiful down that way. But a heck of a long commute to work in the Bay Area. Of course staying in a B&B in a redwood forest with no TV or phones made it seem very remote…so who’s thinking about work!

One house that I found particularly interesting is located on 7552 Arden Way in Aptos. Now this house has some real class at $875,500, touting 1,866 sq. ft. on one-quarter acre. It is a bi-level home with 3 bdrms/3 baths and an outstanding glassed-in porch-like addition with a view of the Pacific Ocean. Of course, I guess that isn’t really comparable to the typical Bay Area home. But it is still up there in price. Especially if you don’t telecommute but have to drive to the Bay Area and pay the outrageous gas prices these days.

This area is surrounded by parks, like my favorite park Nisene Marks Park. This has some great, if not fantastic, hiking trails.
