The Heights, Part 3: Twin Peaks

The Twin Peaks are indeed two peaks that reach the second highest elevation in San Francisco (only Mt. Davidson is higher). Several curvy streets in this neighborhood offer incredible views of the San Francisco skyline and Bay. A gorgeous panoramic park draws tourists and local alike both day and night.

The hills rise over West Portal, Glan Park, the Mission, and the Castro. Thus, living here means getting to other parts of the city is a snap. But Twin Peaks is a quiet area, with many dead ends and cul-d-sacs to cut neighborhood traffic and keep parking easy for residents. Houses are a wide mix up here, and the occasionally harsh winds and wet fogs show on some of the peeling facades. But you’ll find just as many polished jewels as you will forgotten treasures. Multi-family homes, single-family homes, numerous condo and rental property complexes, and even the occasional totally eco-friendly domicile make for a variety of purchasing options as well.

Prices in Twin Peaks are not as high as some of the other “Heights” neighborhoods, so might be a good place to look if you have your heart set on a view that takes your breath away.
