Oakland: Two Newly Listed Homes For Grabs In Appealing Neighborhood
There’s a little neighborhood which I suppose would be defined as Lower Rockridge which always strikes me as being a nice place to live. Flanked by Alcatraz, Claremont, College and Telegraph it is convenient to great shopping, BART and the freeway, but quiet and leafy too.
At its heart is Colby Park which is what we Londoners would refer to as a “square” (although it’s no such thing) — a green space surrounded by largely Craftsman and Bungalow style homes.
When I drove through there today a group of parents and toddlers had set up camp there for the day taking advantage of the shade, play structures and picnicking potential for a summer get-together
All very pleasant.
There are two homes for sale in the area right now:
5923 Colby (above) is a lemon-yellow 3/1.5 restored Craftsman with a separate studio cottage on for $799,000.
416 60th Street (above) is a 4/1 Craftsman with period details and “vine-covered” balconies off two bedrooms on for $700,000.
Details can be found here.
