SF and Daly City: Spotlight on Westmoor High School
School’s back in already in some places, so this will be my last Back-to-School oriented posting for awhile unless something really unusual or interesting turns up. For instance, if a local school decided, eschewing the tired car wash or bake sale, to instead hold a lottery for a brand new home– now that would be news. Of course, I do see it is illogical to wish for such an event since schools can hardly afford to be buying homes and raffling them off, to say nothing of the employees within the schools.
Okay, okay! I am a teacher and I still have to rent. You caught me.
I digress. Surely one thing parents know these days is that public schools need more money, and the lack thereof often makes education less than a sure thing, which is why so many parents keep a close eye on their childrens’ schools. Sites like Greatschools.net are invaluable for keeping tabs, and Redfin hopes to help too, in our way, since surely if you are a parent buying a home, the reputation of the local school is going to play into your decision at least as much as hard wood flooring or a gas range in the kitchen.
I am looking then today at Westmoor High School in Daly City. Since Daly City does not have a lottery like San Francisco, if you live near 131 Westmoor Dr., your high school aged children can attend Westmoor High.
The school has a solid rep. You can’t expect any school, especially a publuc high school about which parents, teachers and students can post opinions to get five stars in all categories, but Westmoor is not doing too badly, according to Greatschools.net:
Serving 1848 students in grades 9-12, this institutions stats shows close to 100% of teachers have full credentials, a State Rating of 8 out a possible 10 for standardized testing, plus the staffing is as follows:
Thus, if your house buying search takes you to Daly City, and your kids push you to a quality school in a quality district, consider the Westmoor area and Westmoor High. For a list of homes available in that zip code, see Redin here.

These posts are helpful and very funny, Ms. Hibble. We appreciate you looking at Daly City Schools as well as San Francisco as many of us with familes must live in the suburban surrounding areas due to the fact that San Francisco is not family friendly.
