Martinez: Mansion and Shack
Over the weekend we had several properties show up on our Daily Stats board from Martinez, so I thought I would dig around and find the high- and low-end properties in that city for our Monday Mansion and Shack. We haven’t written much about Martinez, the county seat for Contra Costa County, but hope to in the future, as one our new bloggers will be covering this county.
On the upper end of the scale, the most expensive home listed right now is at 2050 Franklin Canyon Road with a price tag of $2,950,000. Sitting on 2.37 acres, this 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath, 4400 sf home has room for your car collection (6-car garage), your toys (RV/Boat parking), and your hobbies (workshop). It will keep you warm in the winter (multi-zoned forced air heat and 3 fireplaces) and cool in the summer (multi-zoned A/C and a solar in-ground pool). Oh…and the seller is motivated.
As for the cheapest, mapable property in Martinez, I found a very small 1 bedroom/1 bath, 603 sf home at 2525 Martinez Avenue listed at $264.900. While the lot is substandard at 2000 sf, all is relative: the footprint is approximately 30% of the lot, which is comparable to a 1500 sf home on a standard 5000 sf lot. The home would definitely need some updating. For the same price you could also have 2 bedroom/1bath 750 sf home on a 2178 sf lot. Located at 3140 Plum Street, this is a brand new listing in an older part of Martinez. Considered a fixer-upper, there were no photos to determine the condition of the home. Strangely enough, both homes had been purchased this year already. The first in January and the second in July.
