Sweet (but not sugary) Deals in Crockett
For a charming, small-town atmosphere and lots of fun local stuff to do, you’d have to go a long way to find a better place than tiny Crockett, population 3,200. Best known for its C&H Sugar plant, the town is perched on the northern edge of the Bay Area, by the Carquinez Strait. The people are friendly, everybody knows everybody else, and there are town-wide yard sales and cleanups, bike races, Monarch butterfly releases, and very reasonable home prices, as these recently sold home stats show. In 2005, the estimated median value of a house or condo was $449,800.
