SF: Coming Soon: Coppery Condos on Clayton

I love alliteration. I also love copper as a building material, and the corner of 17th and Clayton would be a great location to own one of these developing townhouses, which promise to use copper as well as wood for modern, but not cold, loft-like construction.

Here’s a photo from Socketsite of the exterior as it currently appears.

With an exact address range of 4588-4598 17th St., these units sit nicely above the Haight, Cole Valley, Noe, the Mission, Market- in other words, an idyllic locale, convenient to all destinations while still offering plenty of charm right in the front yard.

Not sure if you will get a yard though. Am also not sure what the prices will be on these 4 babies. What is sure is that the architecture firm in charge is local: Leavitt Architecture, and that permits have been issued for units which are over 1500 square feet, featuring 3 bedrooms and either 3 or 3.5 baths. Looks like they have garages too. Chances are good then that this writer will be priced out, but if you are in that market, keep your eye out: construction could end as soon as February of 2008.

  • yeah, you're right- they are right in the corner! Still, I'd be so excited to have a garage, it'd take a few months (years?) for me to complain.

These places look nice, but also look like a nightmare to get in and out of the garage.

    Hi Janis-
If you have ever been to Paris, you know that copper wears beautifully, but there are a lot of reasons to love copper, not only asthetically, but ecologically!

Wow, that is one beautiful building. Thanks for sharing it! Sounds like you're familiar with copper as a building material, so I'll ask the question that popped into my mind: How does it hold up? Is it always going to be that lovely golden color?
