IT REALLY IS DEMOCRACY IN ACTION, BUT SADLY THE NC"S ARE ONLY ADVISORY TO THE CITY COUNCIL, AS I AM SURE YOU KNOW...SO WE DON'T ALWAYS GET OUR WAY ON THINGS THE COUNCIL VOTES ON. WE DO USE THE PRNC MEMBERSHIP LIST TO PUBLICIZE TOWN EVENTS, LIKE THE POINT RICHMOND STROLL, THAT THE COUNCIL HELPS SUPPORT FINANCIALLY, BUT, LATELY, WHEN THE NEW BOARD TRIED POSTING LOTS MORE SOCIAL STUFF AND POLITICAL STUFF PEOPLE OBJECTED TO THE INCREASE IN EMAILS. WE DO HAVE A POINT RICHMOND WEBSITE, CREATED AND MANAGED BY A LOCAL GRAPHIC ARTIST...IT IS QUITE GOOD, BUT MORE STATIC. I LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL AND AM VERY ACTIVE IN IT. Do you know of other e-mail lists that represent different neighborhoods in Richmond - the Iron Triangle, for example? I would *love* to write about them.
