I LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL AND AM VERY ACTIVE IN IT. IT REALLY IS DEMOCRACY IN ACTION, BUT SADLY THE NC"S ARE ONLY ADVISORY TO THE CITY COUNCIL, AS I AM SURE YOU KNOW...SO WE DON'T ALWAYS GET OUR WAY ON THINGS THE COUNCIL VOTES ON.

WE DO USE THE PRNC MEMBERSHIP LIST TO PUBLICIZE TOWN EVENTS, LIKE THE POINT RICHMOND STROLL, THAT THE COUNCIL HELPS SUPPORT FINANCIALLY, BUT, LATELY, WHEN THE NEW BOARD TRIED POSTING LOTS MORE SOCIAL STUFF AND POLITICAL STUFF PEOPLE OBJECTED TO THE INCREASE IN EMAILS.

WE DO HAVE A POINT RICHMOND WEBSITE, CREATED AND MANAGED BY A LOCAL GRAPHIC ARTIST...IT IS QUITE GOOD, BUT MORE STATIC.

Hello, Ormond! This is Janis Mara, the author of the blog post. I'm glad to hear from you. I live in the North and East and am a member of this e-mail list, which focuses on that neighborhood, just as, for example, the West County Times newspaper focuses on Richmond and the West County. Do you know of other e-mail lists that represent different neighborhoods in Richmond - the Iron Triangle, for example? I would *love* to write about them. Meanwhile, I'll independently try to find such groups so they can be included.

This list reeks of redlining. Where's the Iron Triangle?
