I have a small in home montessori childcare in Lodi. My full time rates for infants is $175 a week or $40 dollars a day. One set of my parents just informed me they were moving to the B.A. Husband is a DR. and is taking a new job. They love me so much and suggested I move to the B.A. that I would have alot of business. So I was browsing and saw this blog. Very interesting.

You proposed some interesting questions. I think that there are many advantages of home daycares in comparison to daycare centers. The home daycares have smaller group of children and is often least expensive childcare option next to relative care. Plus, if you are lucky enough to locate a home daycare in the same neighborhood that you live in, the kids would feel more at home and get to know their neighbors! May be the mommies and daddies would make some new neighborhood friends too! I am glad that they have a home daycare in the east oakland neighborhood.

I moved to the Saratoga/Cupertino area this May and there are wait lists everywhere there for childcare. In the meantime, we were driving much further away for childcare. We finally got into one nearby after Thanksgiving. I had even called KinderCare who indicated that I would be on a wait list of 40 and that was a good thing in that it used to be a wait list of 80. I found that the fees ranged from $1100-$1400/month
