Berkeley Positively Sizzles In The Solar Power League

Berkeley Positively Sizzles In The Solar Power League

Courtesy of Cooler Planet (via CurbedSF) I give you this extremely cool heat map (if that’s not a screaming oxymoron) which shows the current location of solar panel installations in the Bay Area.

Blazing a trail and displaying its green credentials for all to see is Berkeley — it’s literally red-hot compared to areas such as Livermore or Antioch. For home owners and buyers the relevant good-to know information is that the city now foots the up-front costs of solar installation.

The original Cooler Planet maps allow you to play around at state and area levels over the past decade and it’s fascinating to see the rate of progress that has been made in the past few years.

  • Danny: That's an enticing offer. Thank you. I will think about possibilities -- and readers, feel free to offer suggestions. I love maps and mash-ups especially. The more the merrier on my blog as far as I'm concerned!

  • Thanks Tracey for the post regarding our solar heat map. If there are any other map mashups you would be interested in seeing, let us know! We're always up for recommendations.
