North Valley San Jose – One of the Nicest Neighborhoods in Silicon Valley

north valley North Valley San Jose One of the Nicest Neighborhoods in Silicon ValleyWhen shopping for a bargain in today’s market, don’t forget about North Valley.  Although not as highly publicized as Willow Glen, Cupertino, or Los Gatos – there are many upscale homes in this area to be had at a fraction of the price of a Cupertino or Los Gatos property.

North Valley is located just below Milpitas – and is easily accessible to highways 101, 680, 880, and 237.  With a great view of the East Foothills, this area is also close to the airport, Light Rail and the ever popular Great Mall.  Also nearby are Ed Levin Park and the San Jose Municipal Golf Course – with Mission Peak Park in Fremont just a short ride away.

The average listing price for a home in North Valley is just $505,285 – probably due to its closeness to the besieged East San Jose area.  This area, however, is definitely NOT East San Jose – and has many newer homes with nicely landscaped yards and ample square footage to choose from.  Given the great commute location to many of the high tech commerce centers, there are also lots of newer condos and townhomes as well.  There are also some very nice manufactured homes to be had for a song along Oakland Road, which is a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the 101 Trimble Road on-ramp, or the 880 Montague on-ramp.

In the 60s and 70s, much of this region was covered by orchards, and even today, it has retained its small town feel – while providing the many advantages of a larger cosmopolitan town.

Major employers located in this high tech region include Micrel Semiconductor, Solectron, and Linear Technologies.

A interesting virtual tour of this neighborhood can be found here.

Nice is a matter of opinion. I wouldn't call Saratoga, Monte Sereno or Los Gatos simply nice. I would call them upscale or premiere. North Valley is "nice" - simple and unpretentious. I happen to like this area a lot.
  • What's more is that the bank owned inventory is really providing a boon for buyers interested in those neighborhoods.

It’s commonly assumed that any REO must be a bargain and an opportunity for easy money. This simply isn’t true. While it’s true that the bank is typically anxious to sell it quickly, they are also strongly motivated to get as much as they can for it. www.bayareabankreo.com

I think the case could be made that North Valley provides one of teh best bargains in Silicon Valley, but the notion of it as one of the nicest is not credible.

Saratoga, Monte Serono, LG, Los ALtos & LAH, parts of Palo Alto are teh nicest.

With your stated interest in the media and overstating issues, I would think you be more conservative in claims like this! :)
