Raindrops and Price Drops in Hercules

As of Saturday afternoon, scattered raindrops have fallen and winds are whipping through Contra Costa, but the threatened Killer Storm has yet to descend. For those of us who are cocooning for the weekend and surfing real estate listings, here are some really cute Hercules homes that have recently lowered their prices. (Photo of modern-day Hercules: foundphotoslj on flickr.)
1021 Cottage Lane, Hercules: 4 bedrooms/2.5 baths, 2,514 sq ft, $549,900 (was $564,900). Two stories, grey with white trim (the really only bestest combo for houses, in my mind), this single-family detached dwelling has a patio, as well as a homeowners’ association with nominal dues ($67). It’s a REO, meaning that the former owners went into foreclosure, but it looks well-taken-care-of in the photos. Note: an alert reader commented that houses in this development are reaaaaally close to each other, a good thing to know when you’re looking. Thanks, kaydee!
408 Forest Run, Hercules: 2 bedrooms/2 baths, 988 sq ft, $289,000 (was $299,900). If nothing else, viewing the Redfin page on this house is a great guide to stellar photography and staging. The photo angles play up the balcony and beautiful views of this upstairs end unit. The kitchen is immaculately clean but has red jars and a red teakettle so it doesn’t have that deserted look. Nice!
232 Newbury Street, Hercules: 3 bedrooms/2.5 bathrooms, 1,475 sq ft, $499,000 (was $529,000). Italian granite fireplace, hardwood flooring throughout, marble and tiled bathrooms sound great, but these photos look nowhere near as nifty as those of the Forest Run place.
361 Newbury Street, Hercules: 3 bedrooms/2 baths, 1,432 sq ft, $425,000 (was $451,250). This single-family detached home has a woodburning fireplace and a back yard, and is bank-owned. No photos of the inside, which raises questions about the condition of the interior, though the outside looks nice.
