Sellers Shun the System and Go It Alone
Given how reluctant sellers must be in the current climate to have to pay a large commission fee to a real estate agent (oh wait, aren’t they always?), now is a good time to peruse the FSBO listings. Here are two in Berkeley that caught my eye, one for its apparent style and location, the other for its potential and lot size:
2231 Woolsey Street (@ Deakin)—pictured above—is a 2/1 Craftsman-style home on a cul-de-sac of which, according to the listing, “Martha Stewart would approve”. (Why anyone would want her OK is beyond me. I think she’s positively creepy.) Anyway, a chef’s kitchen, marble floors and brand new garage could be yours for $695,000.
Julia Street (@ Sacramento)—pictured above—is a 1920s, 1,000 sq ft 2/2 which is described as “looking like a fixer,” which probably means it is. It’s on a 6,000 sq ft lot (that’s big) with fruit trees aplenty and is going for $345,000.
