Berkeley: Homes Snapped Up As Fresh Listings Come Online
At least two homes in Berkeley were snapped up almost as soon as they popped onto the MLS last week.
The Craftsman with cottage at 518 Forest Street (which is actually in Oakland not Berkeley, just across the border, and which several readers who chipped in in a previous Comments section felt was too near a busy street) is already marked pending. And 2914 Hillegass (pictured right) a 4/1.5 classic brown shingle which went on the market for $935,000, apparently had around 10 offers and, rumor has it, sold for about $1.3 million.
It goes to show that even in a real-estate downturn, people can act fast when they want a house.
Fresh listings to feast your eyes on this weekend include:
2 Quail Avenue, a 4/2.5 custom-built 1950s home above La Loma Park, priced $940,000.
2149 Stuart Street a 2/1 detached condo at in central Berkeley on a large lot for $599,000.
2218 Los Angeles Avenue: a 1/1, two-storey Craftsman cottage/legal condo with detached artist’s studio and extensive gardens. Price: $650,000.
And,at the other extreme, 2820 Claremont Avenue, a 3/3.5 “stately” home on the corner of Tanglewood Road with two sun rooms and a finished attic. Priced at $2,450,000, it comes in at $835/sq ft, making it the most expensive home currently for sale in Berkeley by that measure.
