Fairfax: Marin Living for Under $1MM

Yes, it’s on the outer reaches of western Marin, but that’s the beauty of Fairfax.  With a peace loving, modern hippy, healthy organic charm – Fairfax, in my opinion is just one of the coolest towns in Marin.  In addition to the amazing open space and the hop, skip and jump to fabulous trails and hikes, downtown Fairfax is also home to some great live music and some really community oriented eateries and stores.  In terms of real estate, the extra few minutes one will spend getting to Fairfax means more bang for your buck. 

Unlike Mill Valley, where it is rare to find a home on the sale block for less than $1 million, there are more than a handful in Fairfax.  So, if you are considering Marin and are willing to spend and extra few minutes to get home, Fairfax is a great place to hang up your hat.  And here are a few of the newest listings – all under $1 million:

 145 Canyon Rd – 3 beds, 2 baths – $733,000:  Be surrounded by trees in this home in the Cascade area of Fairfax.  A good size lot (over 1/4 acre) but mainly upward sloping.  This one is well suited for nature lovers.

68 Canyon Rd – 4 beds, 2 baths – $829,000:  Also in the same area as the home above, this one is billed as a fixer upper.  Good hardwood floors but the decor just looks a bit dated. 

75 Rocca Dr – 3 beds, 1.5 baths – $719,000:  If you like the farmhouse look, this is for you.  Great location – walking distance to downtown is a big plus. 

72 San Gabriel Dr – 3 beds, 2 baths – $860,000:  Ranch style home that looks like some updating could be done.
