Saratoga Homes Under $1M on Redfin
A year ago, if anyone had told me that homes would be available in Saratoga for under $1M, I would have laughed myself silly. Today, this is an entirely different story! The only good thing to come of the housing crisis is that areas previously unaffordable to the typical Silicon Valley resident have opened up for those lucky enough to still have secure jobs.
One such home is located on 18692 Afton Ave; a 3 bed 1.5 bath older home located on a huge 10K square foot lot next to many homes still valued in the $1M+ range. This home is only 1092 square feet and in need of updating, but the good news is that with this large of a lot, additions shouldn’t be a problem. It has been on Redfin for 142 days, so chances are good that the owners are ready to make a deal.
The remaining photos show nice hardwood flooring, a big kitchen with a gas stove, and an open floor plan that would allow a new addition to flow nicely into the existing home. The fence looks like it needs work, and the grass needs some TLC.
This home is listed at $850,000, and is the lowest priced single family home in Saratoga on Redfin.
Another bargain is located on 18541 Aspesi Drive – and is a 3 bed 2 1/2 bath with over 2000 square feet. The listing clearly says that the home needs TLC, but it is also located on a lot that is over 10,000 square feet. The hardwood flooring needs replacing in the living room, but the kitchen looks spacious with lots of cabinet space and the yard looks like a park, with a nice little gazebo for enjoying outdoor living.
It does have double paned windows and central air, two features often missing in older homes in need of a face lift. It is also right next to Quito Road which means access to highway 85 is easy.
This property is listed for $950,000, or $470/square foot.
Yet a third home listed under $1M is 12521 Paseo Cerro – also very close to Quito Road. It is a 3 bed 1 1/2 bath rancher offered at $928,000, but listed as in “move-in” condition. It has an in-law unit in the back, 1500 square feet of living space, and sits on a 9583 square foot lot.
The mature tree in the front gives it curb appeal as well as shading, which would cut down on summer A/C bills. The kitchen looks somewhat small from the photos, but serviceable. But the backyard photos are wonderful, and it appears to have a small pond in the back as well.
