Can’t Sell Your Home? Put it on eBay!
Today, for grins, I decided to take a look at eBay to see if California home sellers had decided to move from selling their time shares to actually selling residential property. Lo and behold, there are actually 42 homes (some ARE apartments and land) for sale in California on eBay. Although many have fixed Buy-it-now prices, some are actually auctions.
One that caught my eye – for instance – is a condo located in Alameda with a great view. Listed simply as Home on San Francisco Bay - it has 23 bids so far with 17 days to go, and is currently at $60K. The listed does say the reserve price is not met!
The listing doesn’t say how many bedrooms it has, but does say that it is on the 4th floor with an elevator, and has nice hardwood flooring. It also gives the HOA dues as $322/month.
It does look like all you would have to do is cross the street to go fishing.
Another property listed as an auction is an estate in Salinas with a starting bid of $1.2M. This is set on 3.3 acres of usable land with 3 beds and 2 1/2 baths – and a very large barn and horse corral. It has a modest facade – but I guess the value is in the land. Currently it has no bids and the auction ends in about 2 days. It would be a good place to live if you didn’t mind commuting to the valley and wanted to raise horses.
It also has 2 laundry rooms, a sunken living room, and newly remodeled kitchen.
The auction lists it as being a 45 minute drive to San Jose – but I wonder if that is with or without morning traffic!
