Every new building “supplies” more of the unaffordable, 500-1000 bucks per sq foot units we need less of. If no one forces developers to incluse BMR, they don’t. Thus, as steady supply for a mostly non-present majority– since usrely with our rental stats you must agree the majority cannot afford to buy– and nothing to meet the demand of actual middle class buyers.

Marcia F., it’s just supply and demand. Increasing supply of housing will moderate pricing. Note there is no increased demand, because the population of San Francisco is not even what it was in 1950. Therefore, increasing supply will lower prices.

David, if this deal boosts prop prices to where they are elsewhere in the city, how does that help “the rest of us”?

Not sure how this is being “given away” if Lennar has to spend $$$$ to clean up the site.

Anyway, as always people “concerned” about “gentrification” are just keeping property prices high for the rest of us.

who knows if we can trust the Bay View- anyway, too late to change anything about “G”- I’d be interested to see though if prices in Dist 10 start to change based on speculation

Funny, I was just looking at some of the houses for sale in the Bayview before I saw this post.

Wow…. I had no idea that Lennar was not legally obligated to designate a certain percentage of affordable housing. Makes you think. However, I’ll cross my fingers that they do and that this means cleanup will be soon and that the neighborhood gets reinvigorated because of it.
