Hudson Street is Hopping!

I’m wondering if there’s some kind of construction that is scheduled to happen in the near future along Hudson Street in Redwood City. I drove down this long road (which runs the width of the city from Whipple Avenue to Woodside Road) and kept seeing “For Sale” signs everywhere. I know it’s the middle of the summer selling season and all but there are 10 homes for sale, plus several which had a SOLD sign on them, and a little investigative work shows 2 more that sold recently. That is quite a bit for a street that is only about 16 blocks long. Not sure what gives, but maybe people are just tired of living along a well-traveled corridor. Either way, it might make for a fair priced home if you’re in the market.

1sthudson Hudson Street is Hopping! You sure have your choice of price ($225,000 to $969,000), price per sf ($266 to $625), and size (470 sf to 2900 sf). You can buy a single family home or one of the duplexes. You also have the choice of a remodeled move-in condition home or a fixer-upper. All in all, a pretty good selection. 1134 Hudson seems like a great deal. You can’t find anything comparable in that zip code within $100,000. Well, except 119 Redwood Ave, but that’s a “fixer upper”.

It is quite small and does back right up to the play structure at the elementary school. Also two doors from Hawes Park which does have evening softball games. so there is some activity and noise nearby. But it is, for the most part, a well kept neighborhood and on the westside.

Never thought that backing up to a school would be a bad thing – you don’t have neighbors behind you and you’re a stone’s throw away from recreation.

Here’s a new one today – under $175,000 in the Palm Garden complex. I wonder why it’s $50,000 cheaper than the unit in the blog post.

1219 Hudson is breathtakingly charming, inside and out. On a less-crazy street it would have been snapped up months ago, even in this market. I’ve got comparable square footage on a quiet street, better neighborhood, and even so I was tempted!
