Silicon Valley Townhomes That Cut Commute Time and Gas Costs
Gas prices come up in almost every conversation these days, and for good reason. Most of us never dreamed we would see the day that gas would top $4/gallon. Commuters, already tired of driving after working the long hours expected of Silicon Valley-ites, are seeing their increased gas bills as the last straw and looking for closer digs. If we all lived a little closer to work, the overall gas consumption in the valley would definitely drop!
Here are some centrally located, low maintenance townhomes on the market – to help those coming back to Silicon-valley proper find a good nesting spot.
First on this list is 777 Hollenbeck Ave #14 - a 3 bed 2 1/2 bath townhome in the heart of Sunnyvale and easily accessible to highways 85 and 280 – with a bit more of a jog to 101. This complex has a really nice greenbelt in the back, making dog walking easier. This unit also has a newly remodeled kitchen with light maple cabinetry and new appliances.
A two story unit, it also has a two car garage and two fireplaces. With 1580 square feet of living space, it is as large as many single family homes without the maintenance hassles.
It is currently listed for $682,000, with a $335/month HOA fee.
Next on the list is 1228 Blackberry Terrace - a 2 bed 2 bath ground floor townhome in the prestigious Cherry Chase school district in Sunnyvale. Also centally located, this home is closer to highway 101, and still an easy commute to highways 85 and 280. Central Expressway is also very close and provides a great commute open to Mountain View or Palo Alto.
This property features two patios, a fireplace, central air, a remodeled kitchen with granite countertops (of course), and a low HOA monthly fee of $248/mo.
With only 1210 square feet, it would be close quarters for a family. It also offers only a 2 car carport. For this area, however, an asking price of $648,000 is reasonable.
Last but not least, is 857 Agnew Road in Santa Clara - a Rivermark townhome that is 6 years new and located near highways 237 and 101 in the heart of Silicon Valley. Rivermark, built over what was once a state mental facility, has become the new Silicon Valley “hot spot” – with a wonderful modern strip mall that includes many trendy restaurants including Red Robin; the home of the best burger I have ever tasted.
This townhome is 2 beds and 2 1/2 baths with 1616 square feet of living space, offered at $668,000. It features a two car garage, inside laundry, a breakfast nook, and an updated kitchen with granite countertops (doesn’t everyone have ‘em?), and stainless steel appliances.
Homeowners association dues are only $250/mo, and the complex has both a pool and spa. It also has a very interesting outside facade.
