What to Do for the 4th in the South Bay
Still haven’t made 4th of July plans? Not to worry, as there are many great events to choose from today. If you are looking for fireworks, here is a wide array to choose from:
Cupertino: 9:30 PM from Cupertino High School
San Jose: 9:30 PM from Discovery Meadow as part of the San Jose America Festival
Santa Clara: 9:30 PM from Central Park
Morgan Hill: Dusk, downtown and Community Park
If you are looking for family fun, Los Gatos has a family festival complete with a Wind Symphony Concert, games, and a flag raising ceremony. The Senior Center is also hosting bingo. There are no fireworks this year due to the fire danger.
Of course, there is the San Jose America Festival - now in its 18th year, running all day in downtown San Jose on Woz Way and Discovery Meadow. This festival is free, and features a kids ride section, multicultural crafts, live bands, and a showcase section for Habitat for Humanity. This is always a great event, but can get crowded so I suggest taking Light Rail and starting early.
Cupertino, Sunnyvale, and Santa Clara also feature old-fashioned family festivals, with live entertainment, games and more.
To all my loyal readers, I wish you a fun-filled and safe 4th of July!
