A Visit to the Shark: Art & Homes

The weather forecast is looking good for the weekend, particularly in Tiburon, where the therometer is predicted to hit in the high 70s.  Perfect weather for being outside, so why not wander over to the penisula of Marin, Tiburon? A Visit to the Shark: Art & Homes

Tiburon means shark in Spanish.  A very affulent community, it is comparable to Sausalito in terms of its picture perfect views of the bay and San Francisco.  And this weekend is a perfect time to enjoy th sunshine and get to know the town by wandering at the 2nd annual Tiburon Art Festival.  Taking place right on the historic Ark Row, you’ll get a flavor of the attraction downtown Tiburon.

If you find yourself being drawn in by Tiburon’s charm, drive by a few of the homes on the market.  Just make sure you have a big picture.  Tiburon is not for the entry level and boasts a great school district and very wealthy neighbors.

A sample of the 124 homes in Tiburon currently on the market, where the average prices is just north of $2 million:

267 Trinidad Dr – 2 beds, 2.5 baths – $1,620,000:  This is one of the many new townhomes on sale in Tiburon Mist North.  Sitting on the northern, bay side of Tiburon, it’s being marketed as a builder close out special.

140 Sugarloaf Dr – 4 beds, 3 baths – $1,699,000:  Yes, even in Tiburon you will find someone for selling their home for less than what they paid.  The ownerpaid $1.9 million in 2005 and the price has been dropped by almost $200K since first list, when they realized they probably weren’t going to recoup it.

4 Corte Las Casas  – 4 beds, 2.5 baths – $2,095,000:  Here you get to see what you get for the average listing price of a Tiburon home.  A 2500SF+ home on over 10,000SF lot.  This one is sit in the middle of the penisula, so while you have the square footage, you are lacking the classic Tiburon views.

7 Hillcrest Rd – 5 beds, 5 baths – $3,795,000:  Another new house, this one really showing off the style that attracts the wealthy to Tiburon.  Great bay views, dramatic staircase – it’s waiting for that owner who loves to entertain and show off their pad.
