Festival Friday: Millbrae Art and Wine Festival

There’s sure to be lots to do in the Bay Area this weekend, the last long weekend of the summer. It’s a good time to hit a fair or festival and check out homes at the same time. On the Peninsula, just a few miles out of San Francisco, you can check out the 38th Millbrae Art and Wine Festival. Running on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., this rockin’ celebration shuts down Broadway Avenue and offers you a two full days of events. After 38 years running, this festival has garnered a large following of artisans, with 250 booths set for this year. Arts, crafts, food, wine and all the traditional festival amenities will be available. Nine cover bands will take the stage over the two days, and you can sip and nosh to R&B, Motown, rock, soul, or pop, depending on your tastes. If you arrive early on Saturday, you will be treated to a special opening ceremony, where a local Dragon team will perform the traditional Dragon Dance to the beat of the Shinnyo Temple Taiko Drum Group.fesskids Festival Friday: Millbrae Art and Wine Festival

This is a family event, so you can definitely bring the kids, as they will have a special play area, as well as a stage of their own where they can watch jugglers, magic acts, and enjoy a traveling reptile show.

BART, CalTrain and Samtrans will be on holiday schedule, and shuttle buses will be provided from the BART/CalTrain station every 20 minutes.

Millbrae is a great little town with just over 21,000 residents. Currently there are 69 listings, ranging from $429,000 to $2.8mil. In addition to the older ranchers and Spanish-style homes on the flatlands and the larger more elaborate homes in the hills, there are two newish condo complexes with units for sale: The Park Broadway complex at 1388 Broadway which has 5 units for sale ranging from $599,880 to $874,880 and 6 units are available at the 88 S. Broadway complex, priced between $799,000 to $1,275,000. There are at least 14 open houses this weekend in Millbrae, several within the confines of downtown. Just follow the signs…..
