Labor Day in Sausalito: Fine Art and Homes

Labor Day weekend is upon us and the town of Sausalito must have done some type of weather dance.  With the annual Labor Day in Sausalito: Fine Art and HomesSausalito Art Festival kicking off with its gala event on Friday, the blend of superb weather forecast and a great town with amazing views are sure to draw a crowd of people.

Sausalito, which often reminds me of a chic Italian costal town, is the perfect spot for this festival, which has been occuring annally since 1952.  Its long history has put this event on the festival road map.  It draws both U.S. and international artists and more than 20,000 pieces of original art will be on display (and available for purchase!).

So while you are strolling the art scene at the festival, make your way up the hills to also scan the Sausalito homes.  You’ll see why this area, with its mediterranean feel and panoramic bay area views draws artists and those who appreciate art.  Maybe you’ll fine some art to complement your next new home in Sausalito.  Current median list price for a single family Sausalito home, according to Redfin stats is $1,750,000.  Don’t have that much to spare?  Condos are on average listing or $740,000 – that’s a cool mil difference.

Some homes to browse while you are there:

503 Sausalito Blvd – 3 beds, 3.5 baths – $3,995,000:  This is the quintessential higher end Sausalito home everyone dreams of.  Check out what you get for almost $4 million dollars.  Great modernist design and did I mention the views?  Multi million dollar views of the bay and city.

37 Vista Clara Rd  – 5 beds, 2 baths – $1,750,000:  What do you get for the median list price?  This almost 2500SF house with sweeping bay views (that seems pretty common here).

51 Lincoln Dr - 3 beds, 2.5 baths – $1,180,000: Almost a third below the median list is this remodeled, nearly 2200SF home.  Views here aren’t as dramatic, but hey, there is still a view.

56 Marin Ave – 3 beds, 2.5 baths – $737,500:  A representative of the median list price condo.  This one sits on the hill and yep – has a view.
