Campbell Emulates San Jose With High Rise Elegance – and High Prices

half street scene Campbell Emulates San Jose With High Rise Elegance and High PricesNot to be outdone by San Jose with its recent high rise trendy condo developments and new emphasis on urban living, Campbell is creating a new high end urban development of its own.  Located on Campisi Avenue, within walking distance of the very hip Pruneyard shopping mall, the Onyx condominium development promises to be a focal point for young professionals who want location and convenience – in that order.

Onyx offers six floorplans – from the more humble Jade model which is 2 beds and 2 baths with 1187-1329 square feet, to the $2M Diamond penthouse suite on the 4th floor with 2K square feet.   The outside facade architecture is intriguing to say the least, and the designers have managed to give it a high tech flair without losing the “homey” feeling given by the shops and awnings below.

Pinn Brothers has begun selling these upscale homes aggressively – and rumor has it that the bottom price advertised ($500K) is just a teaser.

Campbell, although a great town in its own right, has suffered from a bit of an inferiority complex caused by sharing its borders with Los Gatos.   Many have overlooked this quaint town, instead focusing all attention on Santana Row and Rivermark.  Pinn Brothers have given this town a vote of confidence by locating Onyx here – even if it is a bit pricey for current conditions.

    Hi Stephanie.

AFAIK the units come with 2 parking spots each,
as well as a storage locker.

Also, some people want a more vibrant urban feel.

The places look nice, but are barely lived in due to them being so expensive. Not to mention the parking is shitty in the area because of it and if I were surrounded by that crap and drunk people at the garret I would be pissed if I paid that much.

Fung Lum (Bascom) closed 5 years ago and Onyx was built on top of it I believe.

  • I agree with you on the location being near perfect! I used to work near the Pruneyard - don't forget The Rock Bottom Brewery and Fung Lum - arguably the best Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area.

I think there are two penthouse suite's available for around $1 Million each. They would be two regular units combined for around 4,000 square feet. That is what I heard anyway and should be verified. Most other units are north of $500k.

The location is amazing. Across the street you have Whole Foods grocery store. Two blocks away is a Trader Joes in the bustling Pruneyard shopping center. The Hamilton station for Light Rail is also 2 blocks away. In 8 minutes you are in downtown San Jose. Freeway access is outstanding, right next to 17/880/280 intersection. Hiway 85 is just south as well.

Charming downtown Campbell is also walking distance. The Los Gatos bike and hiking trail is right next door.

On the ground level is Chipotle, a coffee shop and a UPS store. I have lived in the Pruneyard area for 21 years and recommend it highly.
